Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026

SafeTravelGal (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by an individual publisher. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Newsletter signup. If you subscribe to the SafeTravelGal newsletter, we collect your email address. Email addresses are stored and managed by Beehiiv, our email service provider. We do not collect your name, location, or any other personal information at signup.

Safety Checker usage. The Safety Checker tool does not require an account. We do not collect or store the countries you search.

Cookies and analytics. SafeTravelGal uses functional cookies required for the site to operate correctly, and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics cookies are set only after you consent via our cookie banner—until then, no analytics cookies are stored. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. See section 5 for details and how to change your choice.

No account creation. SafeTravelGal does not offer user accounts. We do not collect passwords, payment information, or billing details.

2. How we use your information

Your email address is used solely to send the SafeTravelGal newsletter—updates on destination safety, new tools, and site improvements. We do not send promotional emails on behalf of third parties.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Affiliate link disclosure

SafeTravelGal participates in affiliate programs. Some links—to travel insurance providers, personal safety gear, VPN services, and similar products—are affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Affiliate relationships never influence safety scores, rankings, or recommendations. The composite score a country receives is determined entirely by the independent data sources described in our methodology.

Affiliate links fund the free tools on this site. Product recommendations reflect genuine research judgment.

4. Third-party services

Beehiiv. Newsletter email addresses are stored and processed by Beehiiv, Inc. Beehiiv acts as a data processor on our behalf. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Vercel. This site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes request logs that may include IP addresses as part of normal web hosting operations.

Supabase. Country safety data is stored in Supabase. No personal user data is stored in Supabase.

Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to measure aggregate, anonymized site usage—such as which pages are most visited. Google Analytics runs only after you consent via our cookie banner. We have enabled Google Consent Mode, which means analytics stays disabled by default until you accept, and we have enabled IP anonymization. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or to identify you personally.

Consently. Our cookie consent banner is provided by Consently, which records your cookie preferences so we can honor them.

5. Cookies

Functional cookies. A small number of functional cookies may be set to operate the site correctly and remember your preferences—including your cookie-consent choice. These do not track you across other sites.

Analytics cookies. When you consent, Google Analytics sets cookies (for example,_gaand_ga_*) to measure aggregate site usage. These are not set until you accept. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changing your choice. You can accept or decline analytics cookies when you first visit, and change your decision at any time through the cookie settings link on our cookie banner. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. Declining or disabling cookies will not affect your access to SafeTravelGal tools.

6. Your rights

You may request deletion of your email address from our newsletter list at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or by emailing info@safetravelgal.com.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable privacy regulations. Contact us at the address below to make a data request.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The “last updated” date at the top reflects when the most recent revision was made. Continued use of SafeTravelGal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
